EuroPLoP on Twitter

This isn't the most active blog in the world - the new conference and program chairs have promised to write something here.

Still you might like to know that EuroPLoP now has a Twitter account, @euplop. We mainly use it for conference announcement - in particular conference deadlines.  And as you might expect it gets more active during the conference itself but... as EuroPLoP is largely an "offline" conference neither Twitter feed or blog ever get massive.

(The @euplop moniker was chosen because @europlop is already taken by something completely different. We mean nothing political by using the EU initials, to us it just means "Europe".)

Anyway, please follow up on Twitter.

Proceedings online

Wow! This blog is quiet.

Two EuroPLoPs have come and gone since the last posting. Both good, as always, 2012 somewhat smaller than usual but that just made it more fun.

Anyway, my reason for blogging today is to collect some links. Specifically the websites where you can find online proceedings for past EuroPLoP conferences.

These are:
2011 is still in the works.

In 2007 we broke with our traditional proceedings publishers, UVK, since when we've been working through different options for publishing.

For future conferences you should see:

  • Conference proceedings about 6-8 months after the conference: a collection of record containing all papers workshopped at the conference, published electronically and physically on Lulu
  • Selected Conference proceedings, 8-12 months after the conference: the highest quality papers published on the ACM Digital Library

Once we've rebuilt the EuroPLoP website we will also publish post-conference papers there too.

2 weeks left for EuroPLoP 2011 submissions

There are just two weeks left until the submission deadline for EuroPLoP 2011. If like me you're planning to submit a paper, now is a good time to start wrapping up the writing process and preparing your submission. Personally, I still need to add a couple of sections and a few images to my paper, and go through the references section to get everything in order.

Don't forget...February the 15th is the deadline for submission.

Q&A

Registration is now open and we're getting some questions asked. I'd like to share the answers.

Q: I have not submitted a paper to EuroPLoP, can I still attend?
A: Yes, about 20% of those attending do not have a paper at the conference. You will still be expected to read others papers and participate in helping improve their papers.

Q: Can more than one author come for one paper?

A: Yes, if a paper has more than one author they are all welcome to attend

Q: Where can I see the papers submitted?

A: Hold on, the papers are still being worked on. We will make them available to those attending the conference nearer the time of the conference. Indeed, you will have to read some of them to participate.

A: Pretty similar to previous years, the
preliminary program is online.

Q: How to I get to Kloster Irsee?

A:
Directions from the airport.

Q: What does the fee cover?

A: Conference fees, accommodation, food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snakes), drinks (beer, wine, coffee, soft drinks, the lot) - I think thats everything, the key point is, apart from getting too and from Irsee everything is covered.
